Terms & Conditions

1. Who Can Use Tutora

• Tutors must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding agreement. If you use Tutora for a tutoring business or school, you confirm you may accept these Terms on its behalf.
• Students join only from a tutor's invite. A student under 18 may use a tutor's classrooms only after a parent or guardian has consented, and the guardian accepts these Terms on the student's behalf.

2. Your Account

Keep your password, PIN, and Student ID private. You are responsible for everything done with your account. Tell us straight away at [email protected] if you think someone else has used it. Students who forget their PIN can ask their tutor to reset it.

3. Tutors' Responsibilities for Students

Tutors decide which students to add and what to record about them. As a tutor, you agree to:

• Add only students you actually teach, with accurate details, including their real date of birth
• Have the right under the law that applies to you to hold and share the student and guardian details you enter
• Not try to get around guardian consent, for example by entering a false date of birth
• Keep notes about students professional, and correct or remove details when a student or guardian asks
• Keep invite codes and join secrets to the students they were meant for

Between you and us, you are responsible for the student data you bring into Tutora, and we handle it on your behalf to provide the Service, as described in the Privacy Policy.

4. Guardian Consent

Consent is given separately for each tutor, by a guardian who passes an adult check run by our verification partner. A guardian can withdraw consent at any time from their consent record, and the student then loses access to that tutor's classrooms. In some countries, consent cannot be given online, and the tutor must collect a signed form instead. A tutor must not let a student under 18 use their classrooms through any other route.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Upload or share anything illegal, harmful, abusive, harassing, sexual, or otherwise inappropriate for students
• Upload material you do not have the right to use, such as copyrighted books or exam papers you may not copy
• Impersonate anyone, or create accounts for people who have not agreed to it
• Get around plan limits, Tora token limits, or security measures
• Reverse-engineer the Service, or access it by bots or scrapers
• Disrupt the Service or its infrastructure

We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.

6. Your Content

You keep ownership of what you upload or create in Tutora, including classroom material, assignments, submissions, papers, and branding. You give us a limited licence to store, process, and display it only to provide the Service to you and the people you share it with. You confirm you have the right to upload it.

7. Tora & AI-Generated Content

Tora and the paper builder use AI to answer questions and to create question papers, answer keys, and teaching documents. AI output can be wrong, incomplete, or unsuitable. Before you give it to students, you must check it, especially answer keys and marks. You are responsible for what you share.

Tora only proposes changes to your classrooms. Nothing changes until you confirm. You own the papers you make, subject to any rights in the material you built them from.

8. Plans, Payments & Limits

• Tutora has a free plan and paid plans (Basic and Pro), billed monthly or yearly. Each plan sets limits on classrooms, students, storage, file size, assignments, and Tora use per month. Current limits and prices are shown in the app.
• Payments are processed by our payment providers on the web, or by Apple or Google for in-app purchases. Their terms also apply. We never see your card details.
• Paid plans renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of a billing period to avoid the next charge. You can manage your subscription where you bought it.
• Tora token top-ups are one-time purchases. They do not expire, and they are used after your plan's monthly tokens run out.
• Refunds follow the policy of the store or provider you paid through, and the law that applies to you.
• We may change plans, limits, or prices with reasonable notice. Changes take effect at your next billing period.

9. Ending Your Use

You can delete your account at any time: tutors in the app or at thefourstars.com/tutora/delete-account, and students in the app. Deleting a tutor account removes its classrooms and everything in them, and this cannot be undone. Deleting an account does not cancel a store subscription; cancel that in the store. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these Terms or the law, or puts students at risk, and we will tell you when we reasonably can.

10. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, the Tutora and Tora names, and their logos, belongs to The Four Stars. These Terms do not give you any right to use our names or branding.

11. Changes to the Service

We are continually improving Tutora, and features may be added, changed, or removed. Where a change materially reduces what a paid plan includes, we will tell you in advance.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE OR AI OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR ERROR-FREE. Keep your own copies of anything important.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE FOUR STARS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Four Stars from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, the student data you enter, or your breach of these Terms.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. We will tell you about material changes in the app or by email before they take effect. Using the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which The Four Stars is established, without regard to conflict of law principles. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
